The lack of fan support for Govs basketball has been well documented here, and the level of attrition within the program has drawn attention recently as well. Are players leaving because they don't like playing for a head coach that asks them for 100% while actively seeking a way out? Was coach Figger promised a false reality at Austin Peay? How much time is he spending now actively seeking another gig? And would he leave for a lateral opportunity? All that and more gets discussed via the latest edition of The Sports Splash Podcast!

I think the players leaving has much more to do with figger's coaching style. It's not for everybody, and he is old school almost Bobby Knight like in his ways. Kids are much softer now in days and players are quick to transfer for a multitude of reasons. Is Figger looking for other jobs? I'm sure he is, the goal is to move up to a better situation where you can make lucrative contracts. Coaching shelf lives can be short, he would be dumb not too. Not sure if he would leave for a lateral situation, but fan support is definitely something that bothers him, as it does a small percentage of the fan base. I've been going to the games for 18 years and saw the undefeated ohio valley teams of yesteryear. This talent pool is very good, and the product has improved over the past few years. We have two guys on our team who are gaining interest from NBA teams. I don't think figger was promised a false reality. All it would take is a little research and due diligence on his part to find out the reality of our program. Clarksville is just notoriously bad as a sports town over the last decade or so....especially for collegiate sports.
