Morgan Rackel, who was a senior for the softball team this season, has signed a pro contract with the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois. They play in the National Professional Fast Pitch (NPF) league. Ironically it looks like her team will play at Rent One Park which is where the OVC baseball tournament is being held at.
She is just the sixth OVC softball player and the first ever from APSU to go pro. From what I have read this team is kind of Canada's training ground for the 2020 Olympics. Morgan is from Canada.
If you were like me and wondering what kind of money there is in pro softball, a Google search revealed that each NPF team has a $150,000 salary cap. So it's not a lot of money but living out a dream and taking a shot at the Olympics is worth it.
Congratulations to Morgan and the best of luck!!
