I don't understand how any Austin Peay Basketball fan could be against Mayor Jim Durrett's plan to build a new state of the art Arena downtown. It would be close enough to campus to still draw students into the games, and I think Football has proven that an upgraded venue with premium seating areas will draw bigger crowds. This partnership will instantly give Austin Peay a recruiting advantage over the rest of the OVC, and it'll give us fans a much higher end experience on game day! I love that the plan creates a permanent home for Austin Peay Basketball including coaches offices and dedicated locker rooms versus just a place to play home games. This is absolutely great! Get more information on the project by listening to Jim Durrett's interview on The Sports Splash podcast, and contact your county commissioner about getting behind this wholeheartedly! Let's Go Peay!
I love the idea about this and I know long time residents of Clarksville have been begging for something like this. One thing that concerns me with your post is "close enough to campus to still draw students into the games." The Dunn Center is ON campus and they don't show up unless its against Mu**ay. Don't mean to be a debbie downer but that is a fact and not an opinion. If they don't show up for games that are on campus, why would they show up for a game that's not on campus.
Again, I'm all for this event center and its something that Clarksville has needed for a very long time. If places like Hopkinsville, Evansville and even Mu**ay can have an event center, there's absolutely no reason why Clarksville can't or shouldn't have one. I really hope it passes and anyone that doesn't think this is a good thing for Clarksville, have no clue.
